Terah Kimbrell

Terah Kimbrell, MA, is currently a M.Ed. candidate in Vanderbilt University's Human Development Counseling clinical program. She hopes to become a Certified Sex Therapist and Educator after graduating in May of 2021, and is an active student member of the Nashville Psychotherapy Institute, the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors and Therapists, the Tennessee Alliance for Sexual Health, and the American Counseling Association. Terah also serves as the Secretary for Vanderbilt's Chi Sigma Iota chapter, a counseling academic and professional honor society. A Nashville native, Terah is passionate about giving back to the community through helping people live their most authentic, fulfilling lives.

My approach to therapy is guided by the idea that all behavior is driven out of a desire for connection, and therapy is a way of enhancing how we connect to others. Nurturing our sexual and mental health gives us the ability to foster deeper connections with others, as we sometimes need help with unexpected or unwanted situations that come into our lives. By working on our self esteem, communication skills, and authenticity, we are able to overcome challenges and achieve the gratifying lives we deserve.

My therapeutic style is client-centered and is informed by relational and cognitive-behavioral approaches. It is my goal to work together with clients to address life challenges in a way that fits their unique situation, strengths, and goals. My goal is to empower individuals and those in relationships to live their lives in a way that brings them joy, fulfillment, and pleasure.
