Kernisha Chaney

Kernisha Chaney is an Alabama native and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Tennessee State University (TSU). Kernisha received her master’s degree in Psychology from TSU and a Bachelor’s in Psychology with a minor in Sociology from Troy University.

While working on her master’s at TSU, Kernisha earned supervised clinical/counseling hours as an elementary school intern for children in East Nashville.

Her therapeutic style consists of techniques from person-centered therapy such as unconditional positive regard, empathetic understanding, and congruence.

She lives by the philosophy of Deborah Ann Goodwin, “You will not do incredible things without incredible effort.” We as people have the knowledge to pursue anything that we desire. If we decide to speak a desire with no work behind it, we may find ourselves disappointed. I am here to encourage and guide you through “putting the work in” so that you can have those desires (incredible things).

Issues that Kernisha will address include sex therapy, relationship therapy, and/or couples therapy within adults and adolescents.
